Scholarships

There are a wide variety of scholarships available for students planning on majoring in cybersecurity (or other technical fields such as computer science). Listed below are just some of the ones available!

Department of Defense (DoD)

  • Scholarship for Service Program

  • Awardees for both the SMART Scholarship and the Ronald V. Dellums Memorial SMART Scholarship (Dellums SMART Scholarship) receive full tuition, annual stipends, health and book allowances, mentorship and conduct internships at a DoD facility.

  • Take a look at the eligibility requirements on the site linked above. There are 24 STEM degrees that are eligible (not just cyber).

(ISC)2 Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarships

  • Also provided by (ISC)², this scholarship is specifically for women pursuing education in the field of information security and cybersecurity.

Scholarship for Women Studying Information Security (SWSIS)

  • I received this one myself for graduate studies!

  • The SWSIS (Scholarship for Women Studying Information Security) scholarship supports women pursuing education and careers in information security and cybersecurity. Offered by the ACSA, it provides financial assistance to U.S. women enrolled in recognized undergraduate or graduate programs in this field. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence and a commitment to advancing information security. The scholarship aims to address gender imbalance in the industry.

  • The CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) is a U.S. government program managed by the National Science Foundation. It offers scholarships to students pursuing cybersecurity education. In return, students commit to working in cybersecurity roles for government agencies after graduation. The program includes professional development opportunities and helps address the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals in the public sector.

Raytheon Cybersecurity Scholarship

  • This scholarship is aimed at underrepresented groups who are pursuing degrees in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field. It's offered by Raytheon Technologies in partnership with the (ISC)² Foundation.

  • The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) offers various scholarships to students pursuing degrees in fields related to cybersecurity, including information assurance, computer science, and engineering.

(ISC)2 Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Offered by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, this scholarship is for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in cybersecurity or information assurance. The scholarship aims to support students who demonstrate a commitment to the field.

STOKES Scholarship Program (NSA)

  • The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program allows you to gain valuable experience in your field while attending college and earning a degree. You will acquire real-world experience and receive a salary year-round. After you graduate college, you won't have to go through the job search hassle—we will hire you for a position in your area of study. By participating, you will agree to work for the NSA for at least 1.5 times the length of your study after graduation.

    This scholarship covers tuition and mandatory fees up to $30,000 per year, a salary, and housing and travel costs during your summer employment if the school is more than 75 miles from headquarters. It also includes federal benefits.
